The man is in the uniform of the United States Army consisting of black leather boots, dark blue pants and coat with gold trim, a red sash, and a dark blue hat. The man and horse are facing left, with the man slightly turned to his left, toward the viewer. On the reverse of the paperboard is taped a small white typed note that reads "OFFICER, 1st DRAGOONS / U.S. Army of the West / c. 1846". |
